The Shepherds Hut is situated in the grounds of Sowdens House, a Georgian mill owners house built in 1830, which is noted in Charlotte Bronte’s diary. The house adjoins open fields and moorland leading to Top Withens, Bronte Water Fall and the Pennine Way.

Located only a five-minute walk from the historic Bronte Parsonage Museum and the main street of Haworth with its quirky shops, traditional pubs, restaurants and tearooms.

Haworth and Oakworth railway stations are two of the stops on the Worth Valley Railway, which is famous for its starring role in the film “The Railway Children“.

Hebden Bridge is only 6 miles away over stunning moorland and was used recently for the filming of “Happy Valley” and “Last Tango in Halifax”.

Shibden Hall is situated only a short drive away, the home of Anne Lister, the subject of the recent television series “Gentleman Jack“.
